Production & Nesting

Waste less film. Automatically.

Film is the number-one DTF consumable. KOVA's nesting engine arranges every pending design onto gang sheets to consume the least film across the roll — one click, optimized, and repeatable.

The nesting engine

Deterministic packing that pays for itself

Skyline bottom-left strip-packing with 90° rotation, tuned for the way a DTF roll actually prints.

Least-film packing

Designs are sorted tallest-first and placed to minimize trapped area, trying both orientations. The roll is a fixed-width strip — KOVA minimizes the length of film consumed.

A QR beside every design

Each design reserves a label block to its right, so the printed film comes out pre-labeled per unit. Labels never overlap art — it's guaranteed and unit-tested.

Exactly 300 DPI

Sheets rasterize to a print-ready PNG at exactly 300 DPI with embedded QR codes. Missing artwork prints a loud red flag — never a silent blank.

Repeatable by design

Reprints come out byte-for-byte identical

The packer is fully deterministic: the same units always produce the same sheet. A reprint lands in exactly the same layout, so there's never a surprise on the second run — and utilization is reported per sheet so you can see the savings.

  • Same input → same output, every time
  • Per-sheet utilization percentage surfaced in the UI
  • Automatic multi-sheet overflow past the max length
  • Oversized pieces rejected with a human-readable reason

Cloud → your RIP

Files land in your hot folder, untouched by hand

A 90-line, zero-dependency agent runs on your RIP PC. It polls KOVA for print-ready sheets and drops each file into your NeoStampa hot folder — writing atomically so the RIP never grabs a half-written file.

  • Click "Send to RIP" — the file just appears in the queue
  • Atomic temp-then-rename write prevents corrupt prints
  • Per-printer routing by profile and film width
  • Outbound-only polling — no inbound firewall holes
